Question: My 15 yr old may have Crohn's Disease!?

My daughter just turned 15 yesterday and has been in constant pain (taking Probiotics, Vicodin and Bentyl now) since May 5th - Lower right quadrant near appendix!. She is negative for Celiac, not allergic to any other foods - tried an elimination diet for dairy with no success!. So now the pediatric gastroenterologist is going to perform colonoscopy and scope for upper GI too!. Why are they doing the upper if she's not having symptoms there!? Is it because Crohn's can be anywhere from mouth all the way through!?

hi lynne, I am a female crohn's pt!. dxed at the age of 12!.
Crohn's can affect anywhere from the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestines, large intestines, rectum, and anus!. Sometimes it's pretty tricky to dx!.
The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America has some wonderful information on how CD is dxed, testing, latest treatments, etc!. as well as a live chat and a hotline that is run by healthcare experts during the week as well as a forum where family members and their loved ones with IBD can post questions to those in the same situation!.
CCFA has many chapters throughout the USA for teens and adults!. Their educational meetings are exceptional because the speakers they bring in are dieticians, drug reps, health insurance reps!. colorectal surgeons, ostomates, GIs in the area, etc!.
My heart goes out to you and your daughter!. I can truly relate to not knowing and all of the tests she has to endure to get an answer!. If it is crohn's, feel free to email w/questions!. I've had it for 28 yrs!. now and am an active CCFA volunteer where I live!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Crohns, is not a fun thing to have, I have it as well, I hope your daughter does not!. Crohns can effect the many thing such as the esophogues and intestines!. I added some links below!.

My 15 yr old nephew was having same problems!.
He has ulcerated colon!?
So,now the shots he takes are like 2300 every other wek and ins covers all but 800 !.!.!.1600 a month!!wow!.
