Hi diamonds, I've been a crohnie since the age of 12!. If you go to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America's site, they have tons of information ranging from diet, surgery, coping, to locating a local support group!. Definitely look into that seeing as you can meet others who have gone through what your boyfriend will be going through!.

I went to college but didn't dorm just b/c i felt better stay at home in case I was ill and needed to see my own GI asap!.

Is he on any of the newer meds to get him into remission such as Entocort, 6MP, Remicade, Humira, or Methotrexate!? These are the treatments most GIs are using seeing as steroids can cause life long side effects!.

Definitely have him look into that!. Also, before he leaves for school, have him meet with a registered dietician at a local hospital!. They deal w/many folks who have special dietary needs due to their illness!.

For more accurate info, you can call the CCFA hotline or use the live chat that is run by healthcare experts!. They have an open forum where pts!. and family/friends can post questions to others in the same situation!.

Best of health to you and your bf!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
