Answers:
Pregnant diabetics have a higher standard than regular diabetics!. You want to be 90 or less fasting, and under 120 after eating!.

What sort of numbers are you talking about!? Like under 200!? Or 400's or above!?

Also, were you prescribed insulin or are you on diet only so far!? If it's only diet, you can try walking around your block a few times!. Eat protein and/or fat if you get hungry; avoid carbs!.

If it's not dangerously high (like say 200-250) call your doctor first thing in the morning!. If it's really elevated, go to your ER!. It's hard to say without knowing numbers!.

Just remember that as you go farther in the pregnancy those numbers are going to go up!. That's how it works for everyone!. So you might be put on insulin for a while, or you'll have to increase the amount you're taking!. Just keep in touch with your diabetes care team and expect that there are going to be times that it fluctuates as the pregnancy hormones fluctuate!.

Edit: Swollen from head to toe could be something serious - and any stress on the body would raise your blood sugar!. On re-reading your question I think you should call the doctor because the swelling could be a sign of high blood pressure/pre-eclampsia!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Doctors don't always get back to you in a timely manner!.!. What I would do is call his nurse to find out a specific number to alarm him!.!. Check with his office you may have already wasted a day just thinking about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
