Question: My mum is worried bout Alzheimer!?
My mum's grandpa (her dad's dad) had Alzheimer and now my mum is like worried cos she is starting to get real forgetful, she forgets where she puts stuffs and sometimes when she said something, she forgot bout it and said she didn't say it!. Is my mum at risk of getting Alzheimer!? Mum's 53 this year!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did her Grandad develop Alzheimers before he was 65!? If so it means there could be a family history!. You can also get Alzheimers and things from having a head injury which causes concussion in which case there would be no family history and she shouldn't be so worried!.
If she is worried then go to the GP and mention it!. There are tests that can be done and even though there is no cure there is a drug which can slow deterioration but only works for people in the early to mid stages!. A lot of times people put off going to the doctor because they're frightened and then its too late!. Better to know than just worry about it!. Also just keeping the brain active it good, crosswords and braintraining!.
But again forgetfulness doesn't mean Alzheimers, its just part and parcel with ageing in general so try not to worry :-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
