Help losing weight,but I am a diabetic?!

Question: Help losing weight, but I am a diabetic!?
I have been a diabetic for almsot 30 years, I am 37 now and I am gaining weight fast and do not know what to do!. I cannot just exercize,it messes my diabetes up and I end up passing out in my sleep, and in the ER,and when I walk a lot,my blood sugars drop fast and at work I am very active, but my sugars drop fast there as well,so I feel as though I am fighting an endless battle here, trying to lose weight but keep having to eat to bring my sugar levels up,and I used to be able to just exercize and eat my healthy diet, and it worked, but not anymore, and I do not know what to do!.
I lost 12 pounds using the treadmill for 30 minutes a day,but always had to eat something so my sugars did not drop or bottom out on me in the middle fo the night!. I know how to control it,but it seems to be controlling me now,and I am scared, I have had to up my insulin amounts a lot over the past year and that also makes you gain weight,so it is a lose lose situation!. What can I do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You badly need to see both a diabetes educator and a dietician (ask your doc for referrals)!. The diabetes educator can help you identify patterns so you can get your BG's in better control!. The dietician can help you come up with some eating plans that incorporate the foods you like but control your calories so you lose weight!.

You won't be able to lose weight without exercise, and you won't be able to stay healthy as a diabetic without it, either!. Cardiovascular exercise (aerobics, dancing, jogging, etc!.) is critical to your diabetes management!. Most diabetics do need to eat something before they exercise, that is normal!. Have you looked into an insulin pump!? One of the many great things about them is that you can dial them down during and after exercise so you don't go low!. You may also have dawn phenomenon high's in the morning that could be helped with a pump!. I strongly recommend looking into it, your diabetes educator can help you choose one that's right for you!.

Why are you upping your insulin levels when you're constantly having to eat to keep your BG's up!? Something's not right here, but your diabetes educator can help you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When was the last time you visited the doctor!? It sounds like your medicine needs adjusting!. Also what is your diet like!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I too just like you have has diabetes for 30+ years and am 37!. I am a triathelete and have no problems controlling my sugar!. I have an extra 15 grams of carbohydrate with protein per 20 min of exercise!. I do wear a pump with the continuous glucose moitor, and try to make sure that my sugar is approx 190-200 before any exercise!. By the time i'm done with a 3 hour training routine my sugar is down to around 80!. You really do need to go see your endo, because it sounds like your diet is totally out of wack!. You need to see a nutritionist and get your insulin in check!. Good LuckWww@Answer-Health@Com
