Any doctors or nurses? I'm pregnant, and I need to know what I can take?!

Question: Any doctors or nurses!? I'm pregnant, and I need to know what I can take!?
I am 5 weeks pregnant with my first, and I really need to know what is safe for me to take!. I have severe asthma, to the point that it wakes me up in the middle of the night because I can't breathe!. Is it alright to use my rescue inhaler, or will it harm my baby!? I have been trying to cut back on using it, but it's hard not to reach for it in the middle of an asthma attack!.

I've completely quit taking my preventative asthma meds, because I'm afraid!. But is it okay to use the albuteral inhaler!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
1!. Stopping preventative asthma medications endangers yourself and your unborn child in the event of a serious asthma attack!.
2!. Having untreated asthma while pregnant is worse than taking asthma medications!. All "ratings" aside, your baby needs oxygen and by not taking your medications you are taking a serious gamble with hypoxemia because your breathing is becoming less efficient!.
3!. Since you did not list what you were on, I cannot tell you what to take!. Albuterol is worse for your baby than some maintenance medications!. Go to your doctor NOW and straighten this out ASAP!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Albuterol crosses the placenta, and is a class C drug for use in pregnancy!. That means it does show some adverse effect on the fetus in animal studies!. You really should be followed by a OB right now, especially if you are having asthma problems that require medication!. There are some medications you do not want to take, but at the same time- if you don't breathe neither does the baby!. This is one that you can't risk opinions from here on!. Go see your doctor first!. Then weigh the options and decide!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would advise you to speak with a doctor or nurse!. Call your local hospital and tell them you need to speak with a Triange Nurse, or just tell the operator you have a serious question and need to speak with a nurse!. They can tell you whats safe or not!.

I have two children, altho I dont have asthma, I do know that when you go for your initial appointment they do ask you if you have asthma, so maybe there are some medications or inhalers unsafe to use!.

Im just not sure but the hospital should have someone available for you to speak with!Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you have untreated or/and controlled asthma then your body is not getting the oxygen it needs!. Your baby will not be getting the oxygen it needs!. Please see your doctor straight away or at least phone a nurse and ask for advice!. You have asked a very important question here and only a Doctor has the knowledge and right to answer!. GO TO DOCTOR!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
