Question: I need to know , i don't know the scale or if its okay for my mom to go to sleep, she left work today and she never leaves work said her head is woozy. Do I need to drive down to her house I am like an hour away. I am scared don't know what to do? Is it possible that she will slip into a diabetic coma?

Yes, 270 is too high, but it's not to the dangerous point. Perhaps she needs to have her meds adjusted or watch her diet more closely. I just got new reading guide line from a class I was at recently.

Fasting blood sugar

110 excellent
140 acceptable
180 fair
Blood sugar 2 hr after meal

140 excellent
180 acceptable
235 fair.
These are readings for a person that has diabetes....not to be confused with readings for a non- diabetic which are actually different.

270 is too high. I believe 120 is the norm. I would get her checked out.

I don't want to scare you but she does need to be careful. It sounds like her blood sugar went to low. When a person is used to high blood sugar is feels bad when it goes too low. I almost passed out at work once but I was cleaning in an emergency ward so I wasn't too afraid. I did stop driving though when I felt this way. The hospital would not let me stop take an afternoon break so I started to just grab grahmcrackers & eat them in the afternoon. You mom has to be careful I would think it is something she can manage but no one really knows for sure. You can email me with you regualar email if you want more support just write in the email some details so I will remember.

270 is way to high i get nervous when mine is 180. get her to a dr. if she is testing 3 or 4 times a day and continuasely runs in 200s danger.

270 is too high in the long term but seldom so in the short term. If she normally has good sugar control, this could be the result of another problem, most commonly an infection. I'm assuming she has type 2 diabetes

Yes it is too high ,should have a range of 90-130 to be safe. She should be checked out ,but also you can treat diabetes naturally ,with alternative treatments that do work. I know because my husband is a diabetic.
His sugar readings were more than 300 + ,but he wasn''t woozy at that point, only when his dropped below 70 when he gets dizzy . But yes she can slip into a comma if not taken care of. My husband is doing much better now that i have him on alternative natural treatments. He is slowly getting off of traditional medications ,It can be done .Here is a site that proves it. Too high, watch the sugar.

That is nearly as high as mine was when I was diagnosed and I was very ill from it. Tell your mom to smarten up and stop eating so many carbs. If she gets too many and goes much higher she could have a stroke or heart attack.

Her very high blood sugar is making her sleep and can even lead to a coma if it gets high enough.

In the meantime she's causing permanent damage to her eyes, nerves and kidneys.
