So I just heard this and don't know if it's true...?!
Question: I had Mononucleosis (Mono for short) when I was 7 years old. I heard that since I had it I will never be able to give blood. Is this true or not?
Another question - This may sound odd, but anyways. When I was in the hospital with mono they obviously were doing a lot of blood tests. Now, every time I have my blood taken we have to make sure that the people taking my blood puts my blood (in the vial, of course) in a bucket of sand. I never quite understood this. Why do they need to do this? All I know is it has something to do with clotting...? Hmm.
Wasn't sure where to post this..

Nope, my sister gives blood a lot, and she had mono when she was 15.
My mom, too.
That's not true.
I have no idea about the sand thing... hahaha.. that's so weird.
I given lots of blood test, but I never heard about sand part. You should wait a month after mono though.
