Relief for chest soreness & asthma?!

Question: I've had a small cold the past week and it's been affecting my asthma. Have had an attack at least once a day for the past week. At times, my chest feels like there are weights on it. Right now it's just sore. How long will it take for the soreness to go away?

(I take Symbicort, Spiriva and Singulair. Took Albuterol this morning)

Ahhh I can sympathize! I have had asthma all of my life. When I feel a cold coming on I dread it.....I just KNOW it will become a chest cold!!!

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Take a decongestant cough medicine, NOT a cough suppressant. Being an asthmatic, you don't want to suppress the cough, you want to cough the junk out otherwise you run the risk of bronchitis or pneumonia. Get plenty of rest. Take some Tylenol for the pain. Use your Albuterol when you need it. If you have a nebulizer at home, do your breathing treatments. Even one a day will do wonders.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!!!

I think it mainly depends on the person. My older son was the type that was sick one moment and after a steroid shot was better. Now my other son and I tend to have attacks that go on for weeks at times. You might want to get checked out. It might be as simple as taking some predisone or adding iprat to your neb tx. Hope you feel better soon!

If you have a chest cold then I recommend taking an Expectorant. Make sure it is not the one with cough suppressant as you want to get up anything in your lungs.
