Gastritis Question;?!

Question: I came back from the doctor a few hours ago, and they said I had a condition called gastritis. I got up to thinking: Are there any foods/beverages I should avoid? Is there anything that would be good for me to eat? Or does it not matter?

I have gastitis and it is caused from another condition I have called Scleroderma which affects the intestinal tract. It is not causes by alchohol, smoking or anything injested at all. The things to avoid are any acidic: tomato based foods, orange juice or any fruit juices at all, any spicy foods, coffee, or if you drink coffee only have one cup with lots of milk or cream. One common misconception is the use of water. Water is bad in that it makes the acid rise up and into the gastrointestinal tract and cause further irritation. You should try Nexium first if that is what your doctor recommends. It is a miracle drug for me. He may suggest another drug, as there are a number of drugs available that work well. Raise the head of your bed by putting blocks under the headboard to raise it by at least two inches. This will keep the acid from floating up into your esophogus while you are lying down. Try not to eat or drink too close to bedtime. Do drink milk, eat yogurt, eat oatmeal, eat cereal and anything that isn't spicy. If you take your medicine and it proves effective, I would still avoid anything spicy and acidic, but don't be afraid of your favorite foods unless you have stomach ulcers or stomach cancer. Take your medicine every day and don't skip doses. I am doing fine with mine and I hope you will too. If you take care of the issues at hand you will be less likely for it to develop into anything more serious. Chew your food slowly and thoroughly and eat slowly. Good health to you!

A diagnosis of Gastritis really doesn't mean much, it simply means that you have some cells in your stomach that are a bit red. You need to find a doctor who is going to tell you why they are red, then you can begin to figure out what you can do about it. If youre not sure of your current doc go see a diff one, I got a diagnosis of gastritis and got blown off once too, now whatever is goin on is gettin worse and causing major probs. Hypothetically speaking 'if someone were to slap your cheek it would turn red, but that doesnt mean theres anything wrong with it, that is exactly what gastritis is"

Gastritis is irritation of the lining of the stomach. Common causes are alcohol use, smoking, infection.

If you have been diagnosed with gastritis you need to quit smoking and drinking (if this applies to you). Aspirin use may also exacerbate this problem.

You need to ask your doctor if you require any meds to help with your condition.

Ok... Gastritis is a bad thing if you don't take care of your eating... you can develop ulcers in the stomach which would be very harmful...

Avoid.... Coffee at all costs because it can also provoke Stomach Cancer.....

Avoid anything irritable to your stomach like lemon, lemon juice, oranges or anything acidic...

You can drink milk whenever you feel bad of the stomach.. you could have lots of heartburns and things dealing with your ph levels in your stomach... acidic level... drinking water and milk should help you keep acidic level at a good level...

Avoid tomato.... spicy food.... soft drinks..... chili peppers.... etc...

Hope that helps!

You should also look into getting the purple pill which keeps you acidic level low so you can eat those foods....

You should avoid alcohol and spicy foods.

I had gastritis with horrible heartburn. I had an endoscopy and was diagnosed with Barrett's. This really freaked me out. The worry aggravated my symptoms. The doctor gave me meds but that didn't work. Then I changed my diet and started exercising and that didn't work either. I became desperate for relief. I searched high a low for relief. Then I found a remedy online. Ginger juice. Go to mynews2u.com and check out this link:

Ginger juice is safe and very effective. I'd even say it is miraculous. After 2 days I was better. I continued for a month and now I am symptom free. My doctor can't believe it. Try it! The link will show you how to make juice out of a ginger root. The best part is that there are no side effects with ginger. However, the meds made me feel funny. Let me know.
