Answers: What is the longest amount of time a person can spend without sleep??(say.. they have insomnia)

I believe it's somewhere around 2 weeks. The longest I've gone without sleep was 5 days and it wasn't from insomnia. I was moving by myself and needed to get it done. I was working 2 jobs. I was totally exhausted at the end of that experience.

A long time, some guy claimed to not have slept for 5 months, although i don't believe thats possible. It was on some bogus newsprint

depends..everyone is different.. and using drugs can make the time without sleep even longer.. i say about 2 weeks..

It probably differs for each individual but the record time for which someone went without sleep is 11 days

They must been ****** tired at the end of it all

I don't know but I'm on my third day with like 3hrs max sleep total after max dental work.

I have no idea how I am functioning right now.

for normal person it is abt 4days
for insomniating person it is abt without taking sleep pills is 10 days

I don't know for sure, but there is something called Fatal Familial Insomnia. This family has a gene that activates when they are maybe in their 40's. They stop sleeping and are dead in maybe a couple of months. You can google it.

The longest I've gone without almost any sleep is 5 days. I felt like I was dying! Sleep deprivation is a form of torture in POW camps, so you know it is bad stuff!

I have had a sleep disorder since I was 16. I am now 56. My insomnia story is at http://www.fms-help.com/insomnia.htm

A list of things I've tried for sleep is at http://www.fms-help.com/sleep.htm - fortunately, I get restorative sleep most nights now with pills and supplements. Sure wish, though, that my sleep clock wasn't broken and that I could get normal sleep like a regular person.
