Skin help????????please??!
Question: Hi,
my 16 year old daughter has been suffering from acne on her face for the last 2/3 months!
she has been on antibiotics for a month,tried face washes,freederm etc!
there does not seem to be any improvement!
her skin was clear in august of last year!
apparently it is caused by the body producing too much sebum(oil)
how can you get your body to stop producing too much??
or if you know of anything she can try that will work can you please help??

Well you obviousley consulting with her GP as she has already been on antibiotics. This is always the best answer. Her Dr should be able to offer different types of tablets which may help.
I have also heard that some skin conditions can improve with UV light which we get naturally from the sun, thats why we normally have healthier looking skin in the summer. Dont know how much truth is in it.

I have PCOS and one of the many delightful side-effects of this condition is really bad spotty skin.
Some medicated fash washes over-strip the natural oils from the skin, so the skin reacts by producing more.
I found taking Vitamin A oil capsules helped. I still get the odd breakout but compared to how I was (you could join the dots and make pretty pictures on my face), it's loads better. Gotta give it about 3 weeks for the tablets to start working, they aren't an instant fix.
you cant stop the sebum entirely but vitamens would slow it down a little.
For a facewash try using cetaphil, I find that works for me.

my friend at school had it really bad and tried everything in the end her mum brought her a homeopathic remedy from holland and barratt and they disolved on her tongue . and believe it or not they actually really worked it was so much better after about four weeks. maybe have a go with them. i hope this helps.

I know some people which had the same problems. Everything what your doughter needs to do is clean her body from inside.. to many toxins which are comming out through the skin...

If you go to the doctors and get you refered to a dermatology then they will give you tablets for your daughter which reduce the amount of sebum produced. There are side effects - the skin drys up, you would need to buy her vaseline for her lips and they may become chapped but only till the treatments over, nose bleeds, slight headaches. I personally think its worth it, as the spots dont come back and the treatment doesnt take too long to work.
Accutane will do miracles. Your daughter should see a dermatologist for a prescription.
Beyond that, time will allow the body to produce the right amount of skin oil so as not to cause acne.

Acne is never fun and there are several sensible things you can do to help your situation. Always remember to eat clean healthy food and stay away from junk food as much as possible, and drink tons of pure water. If you have a severe case, go into your local guru in holistic medicine and see what solutions they can offer. There some tremendous natural remedies that can help and I have had great success with mine doing this. I also visited my dermatologist, he helped tremendously also, they are trained in skin conditions and may help a lot. There are a couple of products I would recommend, one is Acnezine and another neat tool that I find helps get rid of nasty flare ups fast, is a little tool called a zit zapper.
