What can I do? (dehydration)?!

Question: I'm constantly thirsty and my pee is always yellow (for like the last 2 weeks.) For the past week I've been drinking at least 6 oz of water every hour, but it doesn't seem to help. I don't feel sick and I haven't changed my diet or exercise. Any suggestions as to why this is?

Mazher: If the person has Type 1 diabetes (his age and BMI indicate he likely would have Type 1 diabetes as opposed to Type 2) then none of what you posted would help him. There is no way to prevent Type 1 diabetes, it is not caused by lifestyle nor poor diet. And such will not "cure" it either.

For the questioner, you may have anything from an infection, to excessive sweating, to side effects from any medications you take, diabetes, or other conditions. Or your body may simply be dehydrated.

Your symptoms may be nothing, but they also warrant a simple screen for (Type 1 likely) diabetes. As many people have died from undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes (which can be quickly fatal, unlike Type 2 diabetes), it is always better to be safe than sorry.

I doubt it is diabetes based on your symptoms, as frequent urination usually preceeds thirst in Type 1 diabetes (the body is trying to flush out the excess sugar via the kidneys). So you likely would be now experiencig both major symptoms. That said, it is ALWAYS better to rule it out. There is no reason not to.

Go to the doctor, state your symptoms, and get a full physical. Do it right away. Please direct all medical concerns to your doctor for your own safety.

Best Wishes.

Go to the doctor. This could be a serious kidney problem (if your kidneys are not filtering water out of your system correctly), or could be related to one of several other things (like diabetes).

Try consuming less anti-water (salt). Try eating fruits that are juicy.

You may be a new diabetic. GO HAVE YOUR BLOOD SUGERS CHECKED ASAP!!!

Your BMI is 21.6 and is normal.

Feeling contantly thirsty and peeing , blurry vision are some of the symptom of the diabetes. As you are drinking 6 oz of water every hour and still the colour of urine is yellow this indicates something wrong if your eyes are also pale check for jaundice.

Its better to get your blood glucose levels checked. if there is a family history of diabetes in your family you have more chances to get it.

So prevention is better then cure.Start eating lot fresh fruits and vegetable, eat low carbo, low glycemic index, high fiber diet, avoid sugar /sugary items and most important start exercise. If you have the symptoms of diabetes by following the diet and exercise you live a healthy life.
