If the brother had a staff infection please note tha they are very contagious!! This may be a coincidence but it is best to have it checked by a doctor asap (tomorrow) to make sure! If there is any fever you need to go to the hospital emergency room right away and seek treatment as if this is staff it can quickly turn deadly!!! If there is no fever and you are going to wait til tomorrow try a hot bath soak then pat dry and put hydrocortizone cream ( any anti itch cream such as bendryl ) or even neosporin antibiotic Pain Relief cream on it then put powder on it to make it not so sticky!! He could also take a benedryl allergy pill it will help with the itch and if it is an allergic reaction of some kind it will help with that too!! It could just be a simple yeast infection like jock itch - you can get those anywhere sweat accumulates on the body and your doctor will advise you what to use for that as well!! But please since you know that he came into contact with staff go to the doctor!! Good Luck!!

It could be athletes foot...except like jock itch...so a fungus. If his armpit was damp a lot and his brother had that also, it is easily tranferable.

Did you put anything on the rash? Does he put deodrant? If you tried a barrier cream (like for diaper rashes) thinking it may be chaffed, and it did not work, then it may be yeast. Did you try Lotrimin AF, or any thing for atheletes feet. If it is yeast, you will need an antifungal cream.

It looks like that he could have gotten it from his brother.

The reason that it is not getting better is that bacteria constantly forms in that area from sweat, which is why the armpit stinks a lot.

Go see a doctor. Only a physician could make the determination as to what it is. You might also get referred to a dermatologist.

There are sweat glands that are more than likely clogged up and now backing up. Try some cortisone cream, if that doesnt work and he is running afever, GO to the Drs. He may need an antibiotic. I doubt that his bro passed it to him unless he rubbed it on skin to skin. Your bf may also be allergic to his depdarant, tell him to NOT use it for a couple days till the rash clears up, it may be irritating it more. Good Luck.

YES staff infection is very very contagious. He needs to go see a doctor immediately because if it gets to out of hand it can cause death. Not trying to scare you but it is true. Staff infection starts out as a rash and it does smell very bad my aunt had it and trust me it does smell because it is an infection but a serious one. Staff can be transferred from air or body contact with someone already infected with it.If he does not get immediate attention it can travel throughout the rest of his body. So please get immediate attention. If he does not have that he can have a fungus growing which also needs medical attention. Good luck
