Question: Last week I had a cold sore (before having a cold) then I got a cold..now that the other cold sore is clearing up another one is popping up...the first one was in an unusual place (compared to where I normally get them) But this new one is in the right spot...

cold sores are a real pain in the butt, unattractive and they hurt like crazy! You can get Abreva, but it's expensive and barely shortens the length of time you have it. I go to Wal Mart and get "spirit of camphor or camphor spirits". It's VERY inexpensive(less than $2).Dab it on the sore. It kind of stings but it dries it up in NO time. And it lasts forever.Doubt you'll ever have to buy it again unless you lose it. Good luck :)

if you scratched the original one and then rubbed the place where the other one is now, it can transferr the virus

don't share lip balms with anyone. don't pick at it because you can touch another place on your body and get it there. use carmex. it stings but helps. wash hands when you touch the infected area.

change make-up every 3 months. too much bacteria buildup. you'd be surprised the bacteria that lives in your makeup. i stopped using lipstick and only use carmex and vaseline. i haven't had a cold sore for 15 years. i only use a fresh stick of lip gloss when going out. i apply it with a q-tip and not the brush it came with. that way, there aren't any germs going in everytime i use my lipgloss.

Cold sores are caused by the virus known as herpes. type I (HSV-1.After the first episode of the disease, the virus lies dormant in the nerves or skin around the original area until something sets the virus off into another eruption. Colds, flu, and even stress can cause you to have an outbreak of cold sores. Why you have an outbreak at one time of life and not another is not clearly understood. its gross but i mean i dont even understand how u get them or anything.

what most likely happened is you touched the first one then touch the other part of your faceor you could have pick up a germ some were then touched your face . put campho phenique on it . the after you do this do not touch it or any other part of your face this well keep it from spreading . all ways wash your hands .
