Symptoms of diabetes? Or am I over-reacting?!

Question: I have read this book last year, it was about this girl who found out she was diabetic. Well, first she had symptoms of drinking/eating too much & going to the toilet almost straight after, feeling faint/dizzy/sick all the time.

Well, I have had all those symptoms, and I am very worried, are those the real symptoms or is it just a fiction story, because the girls life was ruined so I really want to find out fast! Thanks

Hi I had sort of the same thing once but the most common symptoms for diabetes are:
Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Unexplained weight loss
Extreme hunger
Sudden vision changes
Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
Feeling very tired much of the time
Very dry skin
Sores that are slow to heal
More infections than usual.

you should see a doctor as soon as possible. Are you sure you have all the symptoms?

no those are real symptoms.. my 11 year old sis had those symptoms for like 3 days or so.. but our fammily just thought she was sick..well the day we took her to the hospital she fell in to diabetic coma for 2 days and almost die.. so get checked out.. you never no!!

i read that about one half of diabetic people don't get it checked out.

maybe you're that one half. you don't know whether or not you have it....so you prob do.

check it out with the doctor.

I understand, I think I am aswell, but as I havent bothered to go to the doctor even though I have thought I'm diabetic for at least 2 years, well....
Best idea would be to go to the doctor wouldnt it.

you shouldn't read so much as you don't appear to have the maturity for it... those symptoms are common and mean nothing.... if you eat and drink too much you are bound to go to the restroom after, feeling faint/dizzy/sick all the time can be from allergies, stress, junk food, etc. If you think you could really be sick, see a doctor.

Yes those are the symptoms of diabetes. The faintness and dizziness usually comes a few hours after eating a heavy meal of carbohydrates(breads, pastas, and the like.)at which time an intense desire to eat sweets occurs, usually making you want to gorge on anything you can get your hands on to decrease the dizziness. The dizziness is cause by a sager drop in your blood after having eaten the heavy meal. Get checked if it persists. A simple blood test from your doctor will tell the tale.

Diabetes is a very dangerous disease if not controlled.

In case of doubt please consult doctor.

take a blood test....take care

It could be diabetes. It's easy enough to test for it. Actually if you go to a doctor he'll order a whole string of tests because those symptoms can be caused by lots of things. Some are worse than diabetes.

Do you know anyone who's diabetic? He will have a blood glucose meter and can test you. It's a very simple, nearly painless test, it just takes a little speck of blood. That can't tell you if you have it, but it can rule it out.

Diabetes is not a death sentence. If you take care of yourself, watch your blood sugar, eat right, get a little exercise, then it isn't really even a -disease-, it's only a -condition-. If you don't take care of yourself, well then you can get into some big trouble.

So get it checked out. It's probably nothing. But you want to know.

Good luck! 8^)

you should just go to a doctor. passing a lot of urin and it being uncoloured is a sign, but the sings can aslo be put to other things. so it's better to go and get tested.

Just see a doctor, dont see for $$... You will feel better knowing the results... Life is not ruined by diabetes.. If you take care and take regular medication keep it in control, you can lead ya life as a normal person....
