Get a humidifier to add moisture to the air. Moisture that is breathed into the lungs loosens up mucous so it can be coughed out. Asthmatics suffer from constricted airways that cause coughing and wheezing. Because of the constriction, the lungs are unable to cough up the mucous that accumulates within the airways. Also, drink lots of water which aids in eliminating mucous. I would recommend three to four quarts of water a day.
