What type of diet may contribute to gall bladder disease?!

Question: I've heard of the "3 F's", fat, forty and female. But none of the people I know who have had gall bladder disease fall under these catagories. One thing that seems to be a trigger is rapid weight loss (okay, maybe "fat" does fit the profile). But I was just wondering about the overall effects of diet in general.

Actually it's the "4-F's" you left out fertile. Pregnancy is also a risk factor. Actually risk factors include: oral-contraceptive use (or high estrogen in general), Family history (genetics), Increased triglycerides, diabetes, liver cirrhosis, spinal cord injuries, prolonged fasting state, inactivity, certain drugs (like a common antibiotic ceftriaxone), Crohn's disease, diseases that turn over red blood cells rapidly (genetic diseases and very common sickle cell anemia). I'm sure there's more but these are off the top of my head. Generally foods in HIGH saturated fats, low fiber, low calcium, and low vitamin C seem to have the highest risk factors. By the way, a study of 46,000 people who drank 2 or more cups of coffee per day had a 40% less chance of developing gallstones or sludge.

Doc

high fat...been there removed over 25 years ago

fat causes all. stay away from obesity

I've had that. My doctor tells me it's all the fatty food that I consumed. No more fatty food for me.

high fat and spicy foods! i was in the hospital last year for my gallbladder and made the mistake of going strait home and eating spicy foods. needless to say it had to be removed very soon after that lol.

I had my gallbladder out when I was 23. Crazy huh? I asked them what could cause that since I was so young. They basically told me that heredity, rapid weight gain, having babies, and drinking alot of pop could all be factors. The weird thing was, I had no gallbladder attacks until the day I went to the hospital for an emergency surgery.

yeah the 3F's... I'm 15 and thin and i had to have mine out, salt can give you stones, but other than that just watch acidic and fatty foods because if the gall bladder isn't functioning properly then those foods can be painful, hope this helps.
