I was just diagnosed with POTS, what should I do about school?!

Question: I'm in 10th grade, I've been feeling sick from POTS since september, and have therefore missed about 13 days of school already. My grades are still good, but I know I could have done better, since I'm in all honors/AP classes, and not being there has a big impact.
what should i do about school if my condition worsens?
Also about exercise.. i know its really good for POTS patients to do this, but i also know dehydration is one of the worst things, and drinking a lot durning a track workout is almost impossible because it would cause me to get sick.
does anyone who has POTS still exercise vigorously?

any feedback is greatly appreciated :)

POTs is a frustrating condition because it's invisible and most aren't familiar with it.

For classes I would talk to your teachers and explain to them what is happening to you. Perhaps an article on POTs to explain to them in black and white what happens and how it makes you feel. It is a disabling health condition for some. You may require a note from your doctor as well confirming you have this condition. BEFORE you have another exacerbation of symptoms work out a backup plan. See if anyone will volunteer to be a tutor or talk to you parents about hiring one. Often it seems if there is knowledge before things happen communication is smoother and easier.

Yes exercise is a good thing and you are correct dehydration exacerbates symptoms quickly. Most doctors recommend about 20-30 minutes of aerobic exercise but if you can tolerate it go for it! Once again awareness is half the battle. If your coach is aware that dehydration can cause you above average problems they will probably encourage you to take care of yourself although again they may request a medical note to allow you to participate to release the school from liability. Talk to your doctor and see what their opinion is. I'd suggest looking at "Stress Tabs" to help keep your electrolytes balanced since salt is very important for your well being.

Sorry for seeming ignorant, but what is POTS?
