My throat culture was negative, can I still have mono?!
Question: So I posted a question yesterday saying I think I might have mono. Well I went to the doctors yesterday and I didn't even talk to the doctor. The nurse did a throat culture (to check for strep) and it came back negative.
Is there still a chance I have mono even though the throat culture was negative?
-I have a fever of 100
-Worst Sore Throat
-Not hungry
-Super Tired
-Headache
-Sore Muscles
If I am not better by Monday I am going back in. But could it be mono?

Yeah definitely. You tested negative for a certain common strain of strep, nothing that said you were negative for mono. There is a blood test that they can do for mono. Go back in and ask for that test.
If you just recently got sick, than probably not. I had a similar problem 2 years ago and thought I had mono but it was just the flu or something. I got mono this year and I felt terrible for months, but it didn't come on quickly, it started wearing me out about a month after I got it..
