Why does my dog ocassionally make noises like shes having an asthma attack?!

If it's kinda like a snorting, breathing, heaving thing...mine do it, too. But I do not know what it is. Sorry. My last dog did it all the time, and no one knew why.

This might not help you but I knew of a dog who had heart worms for years and it caused heart damage. The heart damage made him kind of caugh often, expeically when he got excited.

my dog does this too, and from what i heard, its a way of coughing or sneezing like we do to clear our throughts.
sounds like it could be kennel cough.. i recommend an immediate trip to the vet just in case as kennel cough is a serious and contagious disease
is it after she drinks water? in this case, she is just inhaling the water too quickly. just like a human when we choke when it goes down the wrong way.

It sounds like PND (post nasal drip). It is not serious. Next time you go to the vet ask him/her about it.

What type of dog? A lot of smaller dogs have trachea problems, could be a collapsed trachea, better go to the doc.
Is your dog gasping for air? Or does it sound like a long snoring noise? Usually if it's like a snoring noise- it could be post-nasal drip. My dog had that. But if it happes frequently, I would take her to the vet. I went to the vet and was relieved to know that's what it was. It could be alergies.
maybe your dog is congested; take her to the vet to make sure everything is ok.
do you have a pug? because i have a pug and she gets a little asthma attack like once a day. she makes these odd noises. but shes always fine. if your dog isn't a pug maybe you should take her to the doctor.
