Are you on anti-biotics? If not...get on them immediately. It's highly contagious and can turn into something more serious if left untreated. If you are on prescription medication, usually after the first day you start to feel better. You aren't "cured" you still have to take the medicine, but really, after one day of anti-biotics you'll see a WONDERFUL improvement in the way you feel.
Depends on what antibiotic you are on and if they give you a shot of antibiotics at your appt. I'd say with a 10-day course treatment, u should be feeling better around day 4-5. But, take the full course as without it the strep will live. For comfort until then, drink hot tea, coffee, warm broth. Also, if you are having lots of throat pain here is what my doc told me to do: take two teaspoons of liquid benadryl, mix it with two teaspoons of mylanta and drink it every 6 hours for a day or so. The benadryl will help with the inflammation of the throat and the mylanta will coat it and numb it. Works great! Good luck and sending you healthy vibes!!

get on AB's and see a doctor for more information. It can last from 5 days to 2 weeks it all depends on how u take care of it or the severity of it
