After a Shower , why does my skin itch?(Tried different types of shower gel)?!

Question: The most common cause of skin itching after shower is not the shower - that's just water in moderation, it's pretty harmless. It might surprise you to know that one ingredient used in most shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, shaving cream, shower gel, and 'soap' is also the most common skin irritant! What? Why? Why would companies make skincare products which include an ingredient that causes skin discomfort? The simplest answer: because the consumer demands it.

The problem of skin itching after shower, at bedtime, and during the winter is pretty common. While the time of day, the relative cleanliness, and the time of year seem unrelated, they are actually mostly caused by the same thing: sodium lauryl sulfate.

The connection and the cause is sodium lauryl sulfate, a chemical derived from coconuts. Now you're thinking I'm a kook, a crunchie, a goofball, or an alarmist. I'm not. Let's disprove these unspoken accusations with a bit of science - then we can move on to the solution and you can stop your skin itching after shower.

Dryness from soap. Try putting on lotion after your shower

it's dry, try using some moisturizer

You might not be rinsing off the soap well or might be allergic to either the soap or shampoo.

It could be that you are having a contact allergic reaction. You may be allergic to something in the gel.

You have to put moisturizing lotion on your body.I know It sounds crazy because water is a form of moisture, but I had the same problem. My mother told me to get some lotion and it worked.

This has happened to me before. It was because my skin was really dry. This happens especially in the winter. Get a good botle of curel lotion or another brand with lots of moisture and put it all over where it's itching.

Your skin is dry. If you take really hot showers, it dries your skin faster, take cooler showers and put lotion on while your skin is still damp, it helps lock in moisture.

You need to use softer products and ones oil based or without sodium lauryl sulfate, the person above me is correct i'm allergic to the stuff it brings me out in skin allergies you can use aqueous cream, simple soap and Cetraben's emollient bath additive, these all relive dry skin and eczema.

Stop using any kind of soap. Use green gram or bengal gram powder . This you take three table spoons mix it into a paste and apply your whole body and rub and wash it with plain water. Next take a crystal of alum and wet it and gently apply to all the itching portions of the body and then once again wash your body. This way you do for a week and you will notice that the itching has stopped and you continue this for a month or so before you resume your normal bathing.

Dry skin! Avoid drying soaps and, if you use a shower gel, buy one that contains a moisturizing agent. Try a good moisturizer such as Nivea or Aveeno which will address your particular skin type. Try to apply as soon as you towel dry so your skin is still moist from the heat of the shower. Also apply before you go to bed.

could be that you have the water too hot ... this will irritate the skin and can cause immense itching immediately after and for a short while

I have eczema and allergies that are terrible. I use "Alveeno" liquid body was with no additives, as you rinse, let the water cool, yet comfortable to cool the skin. if you start getting a rash use hydrocortosone 1% or see an allergist.

You are DRY my friend.
