early signs are pain which will centralise to a particular site of your right lower abdomen, and u will feel the pain every ofen u press on that site...
addition bowel problems will be there
surgery takes 45 minutes on average...
I was lucky with mine, I had a lot of discomfort but it was more in my stomach area rather than the right lower abdomen.
It started hurting on a Thursday and by Sunday I could hardly move. I went to the hospital and found out it was my appendix and needed surgery immediately. Our local hospital was under staffed at the time so I had to go out of town for the procedure.
I don't know how long it took because I was under the anesthetic. I think I came out of the anesthetic later that afternoon and I hurt like hell. Even with the pain medication. I could have used the morphine drip but only used it when I absolutely needed it.
Your best bet would be to see your doctor and they can do a blood test to see what your white count is and if it is too high will be an indication that something is wrong.
