Pet Allergies?!

Question: Hi I have been trying to get a pet for a while, unfortunately I live with a person who's extremely allergic to pet dander. What kind of pets would you suggest having that would be safe, specially having it around to someone with allergies?

Fish and reptiles.

fish. Anything with fur will have dander.

a fish

Nice Points!

Fish. The Hypo-allregenic dogs can still cause a problem if the person is severely allergic.

I have heard tell that many people who are allergic to many pets are not allergic to pot bellied pigs. You might want to research that first. I can't recall exactly what program I heard that on, but I think it was something on Animal Planet.

i'm in the same boat when i go to visit family that have pets. it makes me sick. so i take extra caution now days. you can get a snake or a lizard. they are very low maintenance. i had a lizard for several years. never once got sick.

a Bat it can come out while your friend is in bed at night.
Otherwise you wont know until your friend comes into contact with your chosen pet.

is a list of dogs that might work...but you would need to check it out first. We have a Standard (tall - 50 lbs) poodle and without problem while others dogs set off asthma. I hope you find something cuddly that works for you and your allergic housemate.

I grew out of my allergy to cats when we started keeping them as pets. I don't know how severe the person's allergies are though... mine were pretty bad, but I was young when they were at their worst.
I would suggest getting a hermit crab. They are really cute, and have a lot of personality. Almost as good as a dog.

I have a sphynx (hairless cat) and she is soooooooo cool. Looks funny but I have to bath her every two weeks or so and she smells nothing like a normal cat. My best friend who is allergic does fine with the cat. For a dog you should check on a Bichon Frise'.

Sphynx's are very expensive but they are more like a monkey/dog/human and are worth it!!

my partner is allergic to pet hair so we got a dog that does not shed its fur, he`s a cross between a poodle/beegion (sorry don't know if I've spelt that correctly). Or i have a rat and she is lovely and i havent noticed any fur come from her. p.s i think scarliiit has spelt it correctly.
