Phimosis - Circumcision?

Am suffering from phimosis and would need to go in for a circumcision. Can anyone give me an idea of the costs involved for the same in California? I understand from my insurance entity that I would need to pitch in with about 20% of the costs and would like to get an idea of the money that I will need to pay from my pocket.

A circumcision procedure varies from state to state, and even from hospital to hospital. Generally it costs a few hundred dollars, so you may need to pay anywhere beteen like $50-200.

Before you decide to go for circumcision, I hope you have tried all other treatments for phimosis. If not, it's worth knowing that all of them are cheaper, less painful (if at all), doesn't remove the foreskin, and have quicker recovery times (if at all).

The first thing you should've tried are stretching exercises (link 1). If that doesn't work after a month, then you should progress to certain creams that in one study are the most cost-effective treatment a doctor can provide (link 2). And if after a month of that with no progress, THEN it's time to really consider surgical options. But even here circumcision isn't necessary, as there are other procedures that may be better and much cheaper (link 3). See the remaining links for more info.

Again, if haven't already, please first try other treatments and consider circumcision a last resort. And even if surgery is unavoidable, know that even then there are options other than circumcision. Good luck with whatever you decide.
