Why would anyone lie?
It'll sting a bit, but it won't be unbearable. No piercing is unbearable.
They clean your nose, put a dot of ink on it for the placement, let you look at it and approve, then tell you to do some slow breathing, then pierce your nose with a needle, feed through the jewelery, and you're done.
As far as covering it up, that's another story all together. You cant cover it up with makeup, it'll still show through. You can buy a clear, glass quartz retainer (off the internet, most piercers don't actually carry them in store) and get it pierced with that. It's the most invisible thing, but if a person is looking for it, they'll still see it.
You have to be 18 to get a piercing without your parents permission. If you go somewhere that says otherwise, it's very likely they're a shady, crappy shop that does crappy work. In other words, DON'T GO TO ONE.
