Every male has an adams apple. Females don't. It doesn't matter how thin or fat a man is, they have one, except heavier men, with more weight around their neck means they are not visable. You need to get rid of that book!
no, its only men have adam's apples and only women don't. although they are often more pronounced on those (men) with long thin necks.

First and foremost,Adam's apple is a feature attributed only to males.Wether they're fat or not,the "apple"will still be there.But if the man is overweight,the layers of fat tissue will cover it,not allowing it to be seen.
It's not every man who has it,it really depends.

its just fat people have too much fat round their neck that you cant see the adams apple, and thin people have no fat round their neck so you can see it.
Omg, I thought the question was crazy.. then I read some of these answers... and wow.. some of you need to take anatomy classes... badly! First off, the adam's apple is in the front of the neck and that is due to the forward protrustion of the thyroid cartilage.... it is the largest and most prominent cartilage of the larynx (voice box). It enlarges during adolescence... particularly in males... and YES FEMALE HAVE THEM TOO BECAUSE WE ALL HAVE A LARYNX.. for those of you that said females don't have one.. how do they talk if they don't have a larynx? eh? Cause the larynx is what gives you a voice. As for the fat people don't have an adams apple, I agree with most that it may be because the fatty tissue is covering it up.. all your organs are under the skin, fatty, and muscular layers so an appearance may be more visible on someone with less fatty tissue and I don't know what book you read.. but the author needs to be sued for giving false information. Check the links and/or ask any anatomy teacher if anyone thinks anything I said is false.

inaccurate. all if you have male genitalia from birth, you've got an adam's apple.
