Why is it hard for some men to grow facial hair?!

Question: I am posting this for a friend...

He is 26 and thinks there is something wrong with him because he can't grow a full beard.....and he wants one. It grows in certain spots, but not all, and it is very thin and scruffy looking.

Is there anything he can do? What advice can I give him?

He is too embarrassed to go to the doctors about this...and I am at a total loss. I honestly feel bad for the guy...

It's usually genetic, although there may be some hormone therapy that would help it grow in thicker... The more testosterone in a mans body the thicker their facial hair usually grows... Also at 26 it's still pretty common for a lot of guys to have thin facial hair... as he gets into his 30's it will naturally thicken and become darker.

He might not have good testosterone levels.

Some guys just can't grow one. Maybe low testosterone. Or maybe it's just meant to be.

Some guys just have a hard time growing facial hair. I'm the same age and I've never had to shave more than once a week. It runs in my family, my father couldn't grow anything until he turned 30.

its not in his DNA,TELL HIM TO FORGET IT,OR WEAR A FALSE BEARD---LOL

Take it as a blessing, shaving every day is a pain.

Sometimes it is just the person and their heritage. Many Asian men do not grow full beards until later in life as well as Native Americans whereas Italians are known for having very heavy beards.

You might attracted to girly looking guys. Hint ( you might be lesbian). Well anyways i suggest you give him anabolic steriods and he will start growing hair everywhere. Even his nose hairs will be thick and bushy and you will be happy!

its just different between people =P

by the way, my sisters birthday is may 16 =P

Its no big deal. Im 30 and cannot grow a full beard. It all goes with hair color and heritage. Its in the genes just like hair loss. It also dates back to where your heirtage originated from. Basically anscestors from cold climates grew darker thicker hair faster all over the body.

Tell you friend its better to not be able to grow it and not have a balding head or a back full of it. I can relate 100% but I dont worry about it. I do remember as an early teen that I didnt want to be skins in a game of basketball bc I hadnt started growing armpit hair, but now I hate it.

Its just the Human make up.. Im a hairy dude my self..My chin is like Desperate dan's... I nearly have to shave with a blow torch..

some ethnicity's, like american indian's do not grow much facial hair at all!!! he may be part??? idk, but my husband has the same issues. it SEEMS to get better the older he is for some reason, but still not as full as he wants.

Some people just don't have thick facial hair. I don't think testosterone necessarily has anything to do with it either. I have plenty of hair elsewhere on my body but a couple of annoying bald patches on my face. He needs to just get over it.

its not a medical condition. some men just aren't as hairy. he might want to see a therapist to get help with his insecurities.

Some guys just can't grow beards. Tell him that the clean shaven look is in and he probably won't have to worry bout that nasty loking line that comes from people shaving all of the time and actually damaging their skin.

Everyone is different, some is heritage and some is just ... the way you are. At 26 I could grow a full and even beard, but it took longer than it does now. At 51, my brother still can't, he looks like a billy goat with tufts here and there.

It has nothing to do with manliness. Some people have full beards but little body hair, some look like gorillas but have sparse beards.

If he is desparate for a beard, maybe try a goatee?
