DEATH
In the short term you would have been put on a Dialysis machine while a search was made for a donor Kidney. With any luck a compatible organ could then be used to replace one or more of your failed kidneys.
You would have had to take medicines permanently to stop your immune system from rejecting the donor kidney but the chances are good that you could then have carried on having a relatively normal life.
you would have needed a transplant
Dialysis would be the first step, which there are several different methods. You would go on to a transplant list to get a new kidney. You would have to go onto a strict diet, low fluid intake and low salt/potassium diet (watermelon is like a death sentence to someone without functioning kidneys).
You would have had an AV graft or a quentin catheter placed in your arm or neck and be placed on dialysis.
Dialysis is done 3 times a week for most people...for an average of 3-4 hours each time. It's how wastes are filtered out of the body. Without it, you would die.
