What you probably have is called pectus excavatum, and short of surgery, there's not a lot that can be done other than building your pectoral muscles.

Some people have it so severely that it can press on their heart and lungs and actually cause major problems with circulation and breathing. Be glad you don't have it that badly. Remember, there's always someone less fortunate out there.

Just try to work out, build up your pectoral muscles, and wear clothing that minimizes it. Don't wear tank tops and things that make it obvious.

Working out your pecs and abs would be an easily feasable solution, more so your pecs though. Best of luck.

consult with a plastic surgeon there are some things that can be done, it alldeoends on the severity of the condition

Mine is the same way. I have worked out most of my life and do some triathlons. When I was younger I was self conscience about it also when I seen people notice but I'm 38 now and have a good physic and one can tell I take care of myself. So many people just don't care and are overweight and dumpy looking. My advice to you is be proud of who you are, workout and take care of yourself and NEVER let that hold you back from anything you do in life. There are a lot of other problems and diseases people are born with and deal with on a daily basis that you should still feel lucky to be able to live your life to its fullest. Take care.

my friend had that and the doctors inserted a small bar like thing across his sternum to even out his chest

My friend recently had surgery for this situation. The indent in your chest can be fixed through intense surgery. My friend was out of school for about two weeks and is still hurting, about a month later. He said it is much better than before and he can now breath well.
