When my mom died I was given her police scanner that she always listened to...?
One night I was reading the newspaper all of a sudden the scanner came on blasting, scared the **** out of me. I turned it off and it still stayed on, Then I uplugged it and it then shut off,
What was that?

It Worked fine the next day.

There was no battery back up in it.
Answers:
It was likely the backup battery was still in place. If the switch was on and scanner was plugged in .......of course it would come to what ever level the volume had been set to.
If you turned it off there was probably a short in the wiring that did not allow it to stop until you unplugged it.
