Where did America get the idea that pills will fix everything.?

I just read a question from a person with thoughts of suicide and more than half the answers said "go see the doctor, get some pills,". What kind of crazy logic is this, if pills fix everything there would be no suicide depression things like that. Why would none of these people thing to say change the stuff that makes you depressed, is that not the logical answer. Are people aware that only 2% of depression cases are caused by actual chemical inbalances. Are drug companies that greedy that they will continue to market these insane ideas that a pill will fix everything. I mean really, if you have no job and no life and no friends cause you messed all of those thing up, is a pill gonna do much. I might be just venting but i'd like to get some responses here, do you believe pills will fix any problems you have?

BTW that 2% figure of the number of cases actually caused by that chemical imbalance was not just some figure i threw out, i went to school for addictions couseling that is a real statistic

pills are easy. you can get results, of some kind, without any work or self examination or life style change. classic selfishness.
