Am I wasting my time with this medication?

I'm on 10 mg of Celexa and so far, 7 days in, still constant anxiety every minute of the day. I can't take this anymore... do you think I am wasting my time trying 10 mg of Celexa? From what I've read its one fourth as potent as its newer form, Lexapro... and my doctor put me on the Celexa because its all I could afford. Am I just wasting my time and money trying 10 mg of Celexa? Is there something else cheap (say 50 dollars a month) I could try that would be more likely to work?

I do have the generic brand.And I can't go anymore expensive than this (50 bucks a month)

I take the generic for Celexa as well 40mg at night. I have taken it for 4 or 5 years now and it works great. I had to have my dosage taken up to the maximum recommended per day. It takes up to 6 weeks for these drugs to become effective as they need to build up in your system. It is probably just you haven't taken it long enough. It is the only drug that has worked for me without having lots of side affects. I swear by it, and I got my mom to try it and it works real well for her too. When I was in the hospital for surgery and physical rehabilitation for a month they put me on Lexapro and I hated it. I had so many side affects I thought I wanted to die, the sexual dysfunction was the worst. As soon as I got home I went back on my Celexa and was back to feeling good again. You may just need to give it more time and have your Dr. increase the dosage you take.
