How do you deal with depression without going to a psychiatrist?!
Question:
How do you deal with depression without going to a psychiatrist?
I can't seem to detach myself from my friends who drain me a lot and make me feel like an outcast. they're good people but I feel like I don't belong with them. I have other friends but it all seems different. And I feel a bit lost. I like to help them with all kinds of things since it makes me think like I have a purpose. But it seems like they don't need me anymore. I hate not being needed.
P.S. I'm paranoid.

I've suffered from depression my entire life, and many on my thoughts and feelings mirror yours... I have the same feelings of detachment and "not belonging".
I've been in treatment with a Psychologist for over 10 years...she is terrific, and I can safely say I would not be here today were it not for her help.
I have made more progress that I'd ever thought possible! I still have a long way to go...but I am getting there.
I can not urge you strongly enough to try finding a Therapist to help you!
I can understand not wanting to pursue things with a Psychiatrist and medication, but talk Therapy with a Psychologist will make things so much easier! When you go to see a Psychologist, you will have that person's full attention when you talk and it will all be about YOU. I used to throw myself into everyone else's problems the same way you describe. I've now learned that that was just a way of not having to think about myself. I still like to help my friends, but I also am learning a lot about taking care of myself.
No matter what you decide to do, keep in mind that there are others out here who understand and care about you!
I wish you all the best!
