Why am I a hypochondriac?!
Question:
Why am I a hypochondriac?
And why does anyone become one? Also, how do I know if I really am a hypochondriac and there's not really anything wrong with me? In other words, help!

Oh, and I am 14. Some of the things I am worried about are real, just possibly blown a little out of proportion, like a bump on the underside of my toe. However, some things I am not sure about. I think I have bipolar disorder (possibly related to PCOS), Poly-Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (I don't know) and vocal cord dysfunction (it may be psychosomatic, but, again, I have no idea).

I don't go to the Dr. or ER much, only when I am sick (or have my hand gushing with blood). I also don't tell anyone about any ailment I think I have. I'm sure they will make fun of me/ think I am a freak, etc.

If you are continually worried about illness, go have a physical with your Dr to ease your mind. If everything comes up negative (meaning no problems), try finding a hobby that busies your mind. Many focus on imaginary illnesses due to loneliness or boredom. Also I have seen this tendency passed down from one generation to another. Was anyone constantly focused on illness while you were growing up?
