Post partum or merely boredom?!

Question:

Post partum or merely boredom?

I am going insane. I don't know if it is lack of getting out of the house, a boyfriend that is so very opposite of me, or I am severly depressed. I am completely fine one minute but the next I am raging with boredom, and since I really have no means to leave the house (walking doesn't seem to help) I get more resentful of my boyfriend. I want a fun night out, but he isn't into what I am. Plus I don't know anyone here in Peoria IL that I can just go to a club and dance dance dance. What is wrong, why am I not relaxed. I don't have anything to do really but my school online and take care of my boys, but I am going coo coo.

Duh, I forgot to say I had a baby six months ago today. I just don't know, sad, happy, raging mad, raging boredom. My boyfriend is nothing like me. I want fun I want not to be mom for a night. But is it post partum or just me, or what?

Answers:

Post partum depression is a condition that doesn't feel good at any time. Once you become depressed it's hard to function and even feel connected to your new child. What you are describing is sounds more like being stir crazy. I would just tell you boyfriend that no matter what you are both going out. If he still won't then you go, make some friends and take some you time. You definately need it raising two kids. Since you're new to the area maybe you could join a class or go to a gym to help meet some new people. I think it's hard having friends and making them when you stay at home and it certainly is not any easier when you don't know anyone. I'm originally from that area so I'll ask my family for some suggestions for you. Keep you chin up.
