Because it seems obvious to everyone except those that still hit their kids that this is horrible behavior is why i'm asking...and those who think it's okay to won't let emails through...

Get your facts straight pal. I am a firm believer in spanking as a form of discipline. I think personal contact is most soothing form of comfort.
A child that is hit doesn't learn to hit. A child that is hit LEARNS !!!!!
You can't train a child by having a discussion with him. Especially at the tender age of 2 - 5 years old. They don't have the mental capacity to understand the reasoning behind it.
I'm not talking about beating a kid , I'm talking about a good swat on the butt. There is a huge line between child abuse and disciplining a child.
What has brought this country to it's knees is the political correctness about physical discipline toward children. Back in the day when it was an accepted form of punishment, the juvenile violent crime rate was much lower and children didn't think about taking firearms to school or plot mass murder of their peers.
