Question: Why am i scared that i might be sent to a mental hospital?
Answers:
A therapist alone can't send you to a hospital. He could recommend it, and if you don't go, he could drop you as a patient for being noncompliant. An ER doctor could put you in the hospital for 48 or 72 hours, depending on where you live if he sees that you are a danger to yourself or others. You probably do need to talk about your suicidal thoughts. If you're afraid of being sent to a hospital, say that you are not suicidal at that moment, but you have thought about it before.
If you do go to a mental hospital, it's not that bad. Stand about six feet away from anyone acting really strange or from schizophrenics.
Your therapist won't send you to a mental hospital even if you do confide in them that, you have suicidal thoughts. Almost all people have them at one time or another.
I've told more than one therapist I have suicidal thoughts, I've also told them that I wouldn't act on them because of the harm it would do to my loved ones. The fact that you don't have any plans is a big part of not being hospitalized. It's alright to share those feelings with your therapist.
Your therapist is there for you to get all those feelings out.
IDK.. I liked when I went to the behavior health unit as inpatient.. I heard it only sucks if you go into the state ran hospitals..
