Is Clinical Lycanthropy a made-up disorder?!
Question: Is Clinical Lycanthropy a made-up disorder?
Answers:
Hey again, Tundra.
Clinical Lycanthropy is a real and serious condition, in which a person believes they can and sometimes have transformed into an animal (they are suffering from a serious delusion). It is very uncommon, and for more information you could theoretically contact a health professional in your area, since they'll be able to direct you to more information. (Or even a science teacher at your school, for a good starting point, your library might even have some books.) But no, it is not made up.
Therianthropes, on the other hand, are just people who identify as animals. Therians and non-therians cannot p-shift, because physical shapeshifting of that variety is not real and and nor has it ever been credibly documented. You may think you have p-shifted, but the chances are you have not, and that it was a dream/ hallucination/ other. From the content of your other questions, I continue to advise you to seek help. You are obviously looking for support, but the people here can only give you so much. I would hate for you to be hurt because you could not find the help you needed. Have you spoken to a trusted adult yet? You suggested you would. If there is someone you can go to for support, I hope you do. As always, good luck with all things.
