Why do people take heroin?!

Question: Why do people take heroin?
Okay, well i tried weed for the first time yesterday and ever since then i have been googling and researching drugs. As i knew before weed is a gateway drug-leading to more dangerous drugs.
I tried this purple haze once, and i felt happy, loopy, and tired
now this is the only drug i have done or even know about
things like cocaine and heroin or X, how do they compare

I absolutely never want to do any of these drugs again (including weed) but im wondering why in the movies whenever someone does weed they are so happy and when they do heroin they are depressed and sad?
What does heroin do? Slow you down so much you become depressed? well if so why would anyone take it?!!!

Thanks so much for sharing, any help would be great

people take heroin for various reasons.
cuz its cheap. cuz its a good high. because they are open minded.

i dont think heroin makes you depressed, most people that do shoot up heroin are ALREADY depressed, but heroin is known as a depressant, just as alcohol is a depressant.
weed isnt a gateway to other drugs, you can juust leave it at marijuana and thats it. its only CONSIDERED a 'gateway drug' b/c ppl that tend to use marijuana like the feeling of getting f**ked up, and want to seek other ways to get that SAME feeling.

i think a lot of people tend to 'abuse' marijuana. they dont use it as a spiritual purpose, to get in tune with their surroundings, they just smoke it to get f**ked p. and thats not very healthy when smoking it everyday

you dont feel loopy, you dont feel stupid, you dont feel smart, you just feel total relaxation of the body.
a lot of people dont know this b/c of the media, but even the FIRST time you use heroin (even snorting it) you throw up.

you can use it medicinally or recreationally.

I have no idea. My guess is people want to experience another form of pleasure.

Heroin numbs your body. you feel nothing. no pain. no feelings. just in your own world, feeling and doing nothing.

because people don't care about life i guess

Im glad someone enjoys my hobbies as well lol...But please, let me clarify something...WEED IS NOT IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM A GATEWAY DRUG...with that said, I cant exactly answer why anyone would want to try the second most harmful drug on earth (maybe depression, wanting to "experience more", idk) But im glad my hours of research actually will come in handy lol Herion (as well as many other drugs, excluding weed...weird? ;] ) drown the brain in endophines (the chemical your brain releases when your happy) The first time using a drug will be amazing as your body has never released that many endophines but with dependency/growing tolerance of that drug your body releases less and less endophines each time (which is why people "need more") Unlike almost every drug the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC; the chemical that gets you high from consuming weed) responds to nueromtransmitters in your brain...this euphoric feeling is created when the THC is "Ok'd" over the synapse in your brain (nuerotransmitter to nuerotransmitter) and then moves into your frontal lobe where it "***** **** up" lol (not literally; that makes it sound bad for you; my bad ;] ) its later stored in your fat cells and is the most bothersome drug to expell from your ody to pass a drug test -_- because unlike cocaine, alcohol and pills which leave your system in a few days (alcohol is by the next day) THC stays in your system for up to 30 days depending on body weight and excersise frequency... I hope I personally showed you not all pot heads are lazy, unintelligent couch potatos Peace N Pot man

A lot of research on mind altering substances ;]
