Costs will generally be greater if the person is in London or the south of England. It also depends if the person needs a nursing home, with medical care and nurses on duty or a residential care home which normally do not have nurses working there. Nursing homes are more expensive. I've worked in both settings and the majority of residents had Alzheimers or dementia. What type of home a person needs depends on their (if they are able to give input) and their families' wishes, professional opinion, their physical health/other health issues and the progression of the Alzheimers.

The better homes with a good reputation normally demand higher fees and if the home has lots of good facilities this will push the price up too. It is important to ask around about reputation, professionals like nurses who currently work with the individual should be able to give unbiased advice. I've worked in very expensive homes that are just costly out of greed by the private owners, not a reflection of the standard. Simplistic homes with no fancy facilities can have a culture of really good care and give the individual a good quality of life.
