Well, a person with bipolar has to switch from mania or hypomania, and depression. Hypomania has to last several days at least, though it can last for a week or more. People with mania usually have their symptoms for months, sometimes even years. Depression in bipolar has to last two weeks, but usually it lasts for months.

In a hypomanic episode I really can't calm down. It lasts usually less than a week for me. But it's fun at the time. I'm just energetic. I think I'm better than everyone. My thoughts race and stir which can be irritating. I can''t sit still and I spend hours doing art. I'll only sleep a few hours a night. I love to clean and get things done because I feel focused and ready to do anything. I say whatever I want and it can be really vulgar or rude things. I get irritated and feel like nothing is fast enough. I talk incredibly fast, think a lot about sex, and get impulsive. Like I cut my hair once for no reason. I just.... did it. I also pull my hair out. No reason... passes time in those states.

A manic episode is much more complex. These episodes are much stronger; for example hypomanics have decreased sleep but nothing like those in manic states where it lasts for days. they are prone to being grandiose, and having delusional and paranoid thoughts or hallucinations. They can last years if severe enough.

Other common symptoms are impulsive spending sprees (usually on ridiculous things for a ridiculous amount of money), drug abuse, anxiety, and irritability.

The other part is depression. I will have severe depression for months at a time. I will just feel apathetic. It's like everything around me died and I'm the only thing left. I begin to distance and seclude myself, and want everyone to leave me alone. I'll spend days in bed, I'll stop grooming, and I will have unneeded guilt and self hatred. I'll become suicidal, even if I don't really want to die. I'll sleep all day, eat all day, stop talking to people, refuse to leave the house, and make nothing of myself. I also become incredibly angry and violent, often conducting outbursts. I also become prone to self injury.

People who are bipolar I sometimes experience mixed states; states of mania and depression at the same time. People who experience this have the insomnia, racing thoughts, anxiety, irrability or paranoia of a manic episode, but also become self loathing and destructive, suicidal, and miserable like in depression. These are the less occurring episodes of bipolar, and last a week at least.

Finally, it is important to note this: people who are bipolar do not switch every day. Very, very, very few people switch moods in a day. Most people only switch their moods about four or five times a year. Those who don't have rapid cycling bipolar.

There's no exact behaviour of course(because it spins out of control untreated), but the basics are you'll have a depressed period, and a manic period.
So for weeks you'll be depressed, and desperate, and all of a sudden you'll go euphoric, which usually goes to very extreme levels, where you think you're literally indestructible.

If you really think you have it though, see a doctor, because it's a very serious condition.
