If a person has a time and day planned to suicide, would they be sent to a menta!
Question: If a person has a time and day planned to suicide, would they be sent to a mental institution?.....?
Answers:
That person needs to be in an inpatient setting if the desire to commit suicide is such that they have planned a time and day for the attempt.
If this describes you, you really need to get in touch with a psychiatrist who will be able to make this decision. If he does not feel that it is necessary, then you can possibly be treated on the outside of the the hospital setting.
Tell that person to not waste any time in pursuing this type of treatment. The longer that person waits, the more difficult it will be to treat and the more desirable the urge to carry it out will exist.
Hummmm - I don't think there would be much the cops could do legally. The guy who's thinking about suicide hasn't done anything yet. If he had a record of trying suicide, they might be able to take him to court and get the judge to say he was "incompetent" and a "danger to himself" - but that's the only way you can lock a person up.
Often a person who's planning to commit suicide isn't going to tell anybody - and often (so I've heard) they seem happier because they've finally made up their mind to leave this life behind. So if that's the case, they'd even be harder to spot.
yes, that is a clear intent to harm themselves with plan and ideation.
No, not straight away - they'd have to have assessments and stuff first.
