Does anybody else feel the same way?!

Question: Does anybody else feel the same way?
Hey guys. Let me start with a question - would you still enjoy seeing a magician perform if you knew how all his tricks are done? No? well, I kinda feel the same about my life. All around I see perfect system of manipulation, of rooting down people, of "making" them fight to stay alive. (like purposes or love = the reward being a high dose of dopamine and other chemicals). And I ask myself why? We all end up in the eternity of non-existence (or worm-food). Why is being dead so repulsive that these systems of manipulation are making humans and all living things run like hell from death ? And I return to my question about the magician. - there's almost nothing left that gives me any satisfaction. I don't think I'm depressed, and no, I'm not suicidal, just intrigued by death. Does anybody else feel this way too, of not enjoying the magician tricks because you already know them.

Answers:

I know what you mean. Sometimes I think it would be better to live in a time where science doesn't give answers. Having said that, we would be very naive and egotistical to believe we have all the answers. Death is change and change is scary. Death is the uncertain and humans fear the unknown. We are also intrigued by it for the same reasons. This is why talking about death tends to be a taboo subject. People are uncomfortable contemplating it.

So you have some of the answers but definitely not all of them. Even if scientific theory (such as super string theory) are correct, they still create more questions.

It is easy to dislike the magician when you know how the trick is performed. All around you, people are amazed but you are disappointed and unimpressed. This just means you view things in a different way. You can still enjoy the magic show by watching the reactions of others or admiring the magician skills. Plan how you could improve the legerdemain to create a better reaction.

I am depressed and have been suicidal. These thoughts have drifted through my mind many times, especially since I see death all the time (I'm a paramedic). We need to accept that we do not view things in the same way as the majority but can still find beauty and wonder within our existence.

I hope this helps and you can find pleasure within the magician show. Good luck!

Yea, about the knowing magician tricks and not feeling any satisfaction anymore yet not suicidal.

The way I see it - death will come for certain, so, the life we have left, we should just do what we want because in grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter...and if we can just do what we want, it's a waste in throwing it away so soon.

You might think you know it all. But you don't. No one does. Deep down inside everyone wants to stay alive. Except suicidal people who do but, know it is better for them to just leave than stay. It sounds like you haven't thought enough about WHY people are afraid of death. And why others welcome/wait for it. The reason is the fear/anxiousness of afterlife.

Word salad... would you like ranch on that?

In all seriousness, I think that while we are here, living on this earth, we need to justify our existence because we were given a chance at life. Who cares whether we asked for it or not. Bottom line, this life is a gift, find your purpose, live it. Stop wasting time idealizing death, think of more ways to live.

even a lot of atheists will admit that without the concept of a God our existence is pointless in the end. I like to think of things in a much larger time frame than most people do.
