Why am I so afraid of having a panic attack?!

Question: Why am I so afraid of having a panic attack?
I have frequent panic attacks and I actually had one earlier today.
But I feel like I'm about to have another one.
I can't stop worrying about it which I think is what's causing the one I feel I'm about to get.
I'm so afraid right now and I really feel like I'm dying. My heart's been racing all day and it is now. I'm terrified.
I think I've bee triggered all day because my dad's cousin died today from cancer and death and stuff triggers me. I'm a hypochondriac and after my grandfather's death in 05 is when my health anxiety started.
I'm just really scared and I want to go to the hospital but I'm afraid to tell my parents. By the way I'm 18 an don't drive.

Please help me calm down or something.

Panic attacks are HORRIBLE - that's why you're afraid of them. And the sad part is, they're SO COMMON for kids to have. It's terrible how many kids suffer from these things.

And what to do? The best thing to do is get a plan and a goal. The plan has to be that you're going to get some help. You can't fight this battle alone - you need a councilor or psychologist to help you through the rough spots. You need somebody to talk to - because you have to discover what's causing these things.

Also a councilor can help you decide whether to use medications. Sometimes they don't work really well - but sometimes they can really help. So you just have to try them - with the help of an MD who can prescribe them.

Then your goal has to be.... that you're going to be FREE of these things one day. But first you have to understand them.

panic attacks are a learned behaviour it stems from avoidance of something or situations that you may feel is going to happen to you, a past unpleasant experience can trigger anxiety attacks later on, the only way to get over this is to face what's troubling you then change the way you are reacting to it, you have to learn to accept what is and keep your mind focused not bouncing from one thing to another you have no control over what happened but you do have control of whats happening now, you can't function because your mind is overloaded with grief, let it go and accept what will be will be

Try to breathe, lay down, close your eyes.. focus on one thing. Anything - a pet, an image of a flower. You have had some rough times and that's bound to give anyone some stress and anxiety. The more you worry about having another panic attack, the more likely you'll get one. Since you've had anxiety since 2005, I highly recommend you see a doctor. There are medications or behavioral therapy that can help reduce the anxiety.

You are a healthy young spirit. Calm down and relax. You are never alone.

just close your eyes, breathe real slow.

focus on those you love and who love you.

we can talk all night if you need too.

Honey, the biggest thing to fear about panic attacks is that they are uncomfortable. Remember, they cant hurt you, you arent dying, and it will pass. You may want to get on something like effexor to manage these feelings. I have anxiety too and it sucks, but since meds I am SO much better. Panic disorder is caused by fear of panic attacks. Try and not work yourself up, and maybe play solitare on the computer or go for a run (that ALWAYS helps me). Cant freak out when your running, cuz your heart is already beating fast.
