How can someone fall in love over the internet?!

Question: How can someone fall in love over the internet?
I cannot understand the concept of falling in love with someone you have never met. I do believe that you can grow attached to the idea of the individual whom you digitally(by computer or phone) interact with. I have a friend of mine whom met a guy online about 3 months ago and she literally says and acts like he is the love if his life, literally. She posts lovey duby things on his social page, and always talks about him. I think this is a little crazy IMO. What do you think?

Answers:

People crave attention and love in their lives, we all do. In this time of the digital information highway, the internet provides an excellent resource for communication for those who are lonely. It seems as if self asteem may also be an issue, as even after a 3month period in a physical relationship, you wouldent assume your partner was necessarily the love of your whole future life. But try to be more understanding of the complex issue of the emotion of loneliness.

Yea, i think its a little crazy too. Ive got a family member who dated over the internet. Planned on getting engaged when he was out of the service. Planning to live in a house and everything. He was off duty, went home and planned on meeting her for the first time after...a year or so of talking with her via the internet. Well when he approached the meeting spot, nobody showed. All of a sudden this girl approach's him. This was not the girl he planned on meeting. She didnt look like the pictures at all. The girl that met him there that day told him...I dont know what you where told, i dont know who you planned on meeting here today. I noticed you from pictures ive seen and i just wanted to let you know she is not who she say's she is. The girl you have been talking to has been showing you phony pictures and its total opposite of what she represents. Im sorry you want through all the troubles.....and that was that...talk about some shiet

That is an impossibility.
