Why didn't doctors bother telling me that i was 'on the autistic spect!

Question: Why didn't doctors bother telling me that i was 'on the autistic spectrum'?
I found out indirectly at my doctors that i was considered 'on the autistic spectrum'.
I snooped at my files on his computer screen and saw this..I was like...what is this?
Then the doctor was like..totally trying to convince me i was totally 'normal'. That its 'just the way you are'. I was like....What/?/ eccentric.?? He was trying to reassure me but it didn't mean anything to me as it seemed untrue. :O
Why would he say this if that statement was there on my records. I would take such matters really seriously. Its important afterall...and for alot of reasons.
I'd re-think ever becoming a parent for example.
I feel so indignant, violated and outraged really...what didnt' anyone bother telling me??? What should i do now??

Your putting a "LABEL" on yourself before you know what's up. Investigate, and seek what's the truth. Just FYI, dr's say all kinds of things on files, some doodle, some make judgments that are REALLY false, and they are HUMAN, That MD after their name does not spell "GOD", and they don'
t know everything. Please find out, keep an open mind, and understand that labels get put on ALOT of people for no reason, and sometimes knowing something doesn't have to be bad.
You be you, cause you are the ONLY ONE of you and make your life what YOU dream, not what a man writes abt you.
BTW, a dr I know wrote down on a file that he thought a girl was a "meth" addict due to cavities and skin issues. I knew this girl, and her whole family had dental and skin problems due to the water they drank for YRS from a bad well. SO SEE, they can be REAL WRONG!

If you are a teen your doctor by law had to give your parents your diagnosis. Possibly they felt it best not to tell you. That wasn't right. If it was the doctors decision I would see another and tell him of your previous doctors diagnosis. He can either confirm the diagnosis and help you with the therapies that would help you or he may determine that it isn't so. For your own peace of mind please see another doctor.

I'd sue them, honest
