I can't concentrate and I am having difficulty in school?!

Question: I can't concentrate and I am having difficulty in school?
Summary of my life:

I would cram last minute for tests and walk out with high 80s and low 90s. However, now that I am in high school (I still get high 90s) but the problem is the quantity of my work. I am 16 and I am 1 1/2 years behind. By my calculations I will graduate from high school by 20 if I keep going at this rate.

My mind wonders, I keep thinking about talking to my friends, programming, engineering. I daydream that I do something outstanding or that aliens probe my brain and make me super smart and I become a millionaire. I daydream about beating people up and just about anything.

I get REALLY nervous to the point where I am punching the walls until my fists bleed if my parents force me to study too long (my breaking point is 30 minutes, after that I get REALLY bad). I also will hit my parents but I have very little control when I am so nervous.

If someone touches me I will get really mad and hit them... I also don't like touching metal objects... if someone touches a metal object I instantly assume they are contaminated... I don't care about germs just metal objects.

I also get VERY tired while doing school work... Extremely tired.

The psychiatrist says this is ADHD. Is it possible it could be something else too? What do you think?

What you are describing also sounds a bit like Maladaptive Daydreaming. It's a condition that causes excessive daydreaming. Very few doctors have heard of it because it's just starting to be studied. Look at this website to learn more:

To me, it also sounds like you have OCD and anxiety issues. Obviously no one can diagnosis you over the internet. My suggestion would be to go to a therapist as well as a psychiatrist, and see if they can sort all this out. If the psychiatrist gave you meds, I would definitely try them out, as it's possible that meds for ADHD may also help for Maladaptive Daydreaming. Hope this info helps.

dont ever listen to someone trying to "diagnose" you, you can diagnose yourself in just knowing that you are in high school you have hormones racing. You are at a point in ur life that is hard... it was hard for everyone. Just try to chill and relax.... think about ehat you want to be take day by day. Think positive, dont do stupid stuff like hit the walls because what does that do for you? NOTHING. what does something for you is to be positive and know this point n ur life will pass. Just for rel take one step at a time. When you r in class try to just listen to what is going on. Keep all distractions away, dont talk to people or think about what u r doing after school. Gradually your thinking process will get different if you just try. I wish you the best and I hope u can make it threw this, u r young make something out of your life!

- was the same way in high school
