Long term effects of severe sleep deprivation?!
Question: Long term effects of severe sleep deprivation?
Plus these pills create an effect that makes it so that you don't get sleep rebounds, as much as your body really needs it (especially when you are growing at a young age).
Even to this very day, I sleep an average of 4 hours a night. Last night I finally fell asleep at 4am, only to get up for school at 7:30.... Last week I slept a total of about 20 hours.....and recommended (for my age) is at least 70 hours... Been happening EXTREMELY consistently since I was in 4th grade.
This really is worrying me because this absolutely cannot be good, but I cannot control it. What are the possible effects of this down the road? I really wouldn't doubt that it has decreased the age that I'm going to live to by a whole lot.
Thanks!

You could be affected by a huge range of problems.
- It could impair your brain's functions causing you to not be able to focus on things as easily. If you're in education that would most likely impact how well you can learn and concentrate.
- It can stunt your physical growth not to sleep.
- If you drive it can affect your reaction time which may be a hazard.
Also most recent studies indicate that there are correlations between not sleeping and weight gain/diabetes so it could be leading you there too.
Best thing to do would be consult a doctor to see what they suggest, I would normally advise taking sleeping aids however as you are already on quite a few types of medication it would be best for a doctor with more knowledge than I to tell you which medications may work.
at 18 it is recommended you get between 6-10 hours a night so you aren't doing as bad as you think? Has your doctor suggested any self help remedies such as training your body clock, and stress relief techniques as you may find they are extremely helpful (I did)
Sleep deprivation? You will start to hallucinate, then go mad and eventually die. However, some people can manage on 4-5 hours sleep per night, ask your doctor.
